More Killzone 2 DLC Already On The Way

Text

I was just starting to get a handle on the persistent chaos that is Wasteland Bullet. Hanging rails from the ceiling keep snipers on their toes, while falls to an immediate death are a plenty when jumping from one speeding train to the other. Standoffs on the Search and Destroy missions are even more wild, with grenades being thrown from train to train and platform to platform. Well, they have already announced another set of DLC maps, this time titled “Flash and Thunder,” over on the Playstation Blog.

The map pack is already set to release on June 11th. As much as I would like to see the developers at Guerrilla Games constantly working on more content for a game I’ve taken a good liking to, shelling out another six bucks every couple of months isn’t something I’m looking forward to. I’m also concerned about diminishing returns. The number of users currently playing the last map pack is marginal compared to that of the original maps. And those that will play the newest map pack may be even smaller.

According to the post, these maps are “retro,” coming from the original Killzone game released on the PS2, except revamped to look good on the PS3. Isn’t this something that could be included for free in an update (which the article also says is due in the coming week)? I probably won’t pick these up unless there’s I pick up an overwhelming sense that I’m missing out on something from the Killzone 2 community.
