Philip Bloom - Video DSLRs, the death of 35mm Adaptors?

Great article on the current technology in the video DSLR department. I have the Nikon D90 myself, and haven’t used it all that much beyond photos due to the issues with the onboard sound, that is, that you have no options at all. I haven’t had a chance to use any of the more expensive models Philip Bloom has, but from the article it looks like the gap is quickly being covered.

What I’m really looking forward to is the point when video cameras are capable of the the same quality images as their DSLR brethren. RED seems to be aiming for this with their camera lines, which have some pretty impressive stats, complete with similarly impressive price tags. For their June issue, Esquire actually shot a ten minute video of Megan Fox and took frame stills that were not only used in the magazine, but the cover with the help of the RedONE camera [PopCrunch].

I’ve never had a chance to use a 35mm adaptor, but Bloom lists a couple options that are within my price range. We don’t have access to 35mm cameras through the school, so an adaptor is the closest I’ll ever get to that real 35mm look (the look film has compared to digital video).
